# Video to GIF converter

Convert MP4, WebM, MOV or AVI video to an animated GIF in your browser. Pick a time range, frame rate, width and palette quality. No upload, no watermark.

## How it works

This tool runs entirely in your browser using ffmpeg compiled to
WebAssembly (or the Canvas API, where listed). Your file is never uploaded — it is
read into memory, processed locally, and offered back to you as a download.

## Using it

1. Open https://gif.statico.io/video-to-gif/
2. Choose a file, by drag and drop or the file picker.
3. Adjust the settings. MP4/WebM/MOV → animated GIF with palette tuning.
4. Set the filename and download. Names are slugified so the result can be
   uploaded straight to Slack as a custom emoji.

Results are also saved to a per-browser history at https://gif.statico.io/history/.
